Best Mulled Apple Cider for a Chilly Fall Day

The Best Fall Cider Recipe

Ingredients

CIDER

  • 3 All-Spice Berries

  • 1 pinch of Red Chili Flakes

  • 2 TBSP Lemon Juice

  • 3 Cinnamon Sticks

  • 1 pinch of salt

  • 10 Black Peppercorns

  • 2 Bay Leaves

  • 5 Cloves

  • 1 Cardamom Pod

  • 1 Orange (for zest)

  • 1 Star Anise

For a BOOZY twist - Add 2-4 cups of your favorite fortified wine, Paula reccomends CRU.

VANILLA WHIP

  • 1 pint Heavy Whipping Cream

  • Sugar to taste

  • 1 TSP Vanilla

  • Cinnamon

  • Nutmeg

  • Cinnamon Sticks

  • Star Anise

Method

CIDER

  1. Combine the 6c of Martinelli's apple cider, lemon juice, spices in a saucepan

  2. Peel 5 large orange zests, and add to cider saucepan, and bring to a boil

  3. Once boiling immediately reduce to a simmer for at least 1 hour, but up to 4 for maximum spice strength.

  4. Strain spices from the cider, and return to a clean pot

BOOZY TWIST - add in 2-4c of your favorite fortified wine

WHIP

  1. Pour 1 pint of heavy whipping cream into a mixing bowl

  2. Whisk Or Use a mixer until the cream starts to thicken and create soft, cloud-like peaks

  3. Add in sugar to taste while mixing

  4. Add in 1 TSP of vanilla extract (I get mine from my Mom's homemade secret recipe)

Once the whip is nice and fluffy, top this incredible cider with the whip, cinnamon, nutmeg, a cinnamon stick, and a star anise - grab your favorite blanket, light a candle (more for ambiance than anything since your house now smells like this amazing cider), and enjoy the changing of the seasons.

ENJOY!
